6th November 2014: Elisabeth Vathje secures her place in Canada’s World Cup Skeleton Team.
After placing 3rd at the 1st selection Race last weekend, Elisabeth Vathje entered the 2nd and final Canadian selection race today knowing that a top 2 placing would guarantee a World Cup team place and a top 3 position could be good enough depending on the other athlete placing’s.
Heat 1 saw the Bromley (WRX) works slider sustain runner spine damage which resulted in her sitting in 2nd to last place, trailing 1st place by over 1 second and all but out of a World cup team place.
Heat 2 saw Elisabeth refocus and lay down the fastest run of the day (0.5 sec faster than the next fastest time) with speeds worthy of the men’s race. Elisabeth climbed to 3rd overall (only 3/10ths off 1st place) and won her place on the Canadian World Cup Team.
Elisabeth rides the new X18 Skeleton race sled.
