Press Release: 7th November 2014
Bromley Sports announce their first athlete sponsorship deal of the new Olympic cycle with GB Skeleton Olympian Dominic Parsons.
Bromley Sports is delighted to announce its four year technical sponsorship of Dominic Parson’s, GBR’s current no. 1 male athlete and Sochi Olympian.
The deal, which runs until October 2018, will support the British athlete with sled, runner and track side technology innovations in support of his world cup, world championship and Olympic goals over the next Olympiad.
The announcement coincides with today’s final British Skeleton World Cup selection race, which saw Dom race the new Bromley X18 sled to a commanding win by 1.76 seconds over second place. The race took place in Winterberg, Germany, the host of the 2015 World Championship in February next year. Held in World Championship format, over 2 days and 4 heats, this early season race has given Dom a great foundation upon which to launch his 2018/19 campaign. Dom will join Olympic Gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold as GBR’s number 1 world cup athlete on this year’s tour.
The new Bromley X18 sled and runners, developed by the company through the Sochi 2014 Olympic cycle by former world champion and Design Engineer Kristan Bromley and Race Engineer Richard Bromley, are the latest race technologies to be launched and offered by the company.
“We are extremely pleased to be working with Dom and supporting his Pyeongchang Olympic dream. Today’s result is an amazing achievement by Dom. To win a selection race by 1.68 seconds, in a sport where 1/100th’s of a second usually separates competitors, is a feat that should not be underestimated. The aim this season is to support Dom in making the transition from his previous equipment to the new Bromley sled. It can take the best part of a season for an athlete to adjust to racing a new sled. Dom has made an accelerated start to this process and is ahead of schedule. However our goals for this season still remain focussed on this transition process and help Dom to reach the level which we believe he is capable of achieving. We wish Dom the best of luck in the first World Cup races.“ – Dr Kristan Bromley – CEO – Bromley Sports
“I’m very excited about the support programme with Bromley Sports over the next four years. My first experiences with the new equipment have been very positive. I still have a long way to go to fully master the new equipment and I can’t wait to start competing on the World Cup with the new X18 sled and Bromley engineering support.” – Dominic Parsons – GBR Skeleton athlete.
